Global Coalition Condemns Attacks on Tunisian Legal System: 39 Groups Urge Protection of Bar

A coalition of thirty-nine international legal and human rights organisations has issued a joint statement to condemn Tunisia’s systemic crackdown on civil society. Since the consolidation of executive power, the authorities have weaponised criminal proceedings, arbitrary detentions, and forced exiles against defence lawyers and magistrates who resist state interference. By targeting the Tunisian National Bar Association and independent judges, the regime actively dismantles the rule of law, compromises access to justice, and severely undermines the fundamental right to a fair trial.
