Extradition WG monthly Webinars

12 Feb 2026 | Current and future initiatives International Co-operation WG, EAW, Extradition

The ECBA’s Extradition Working Group hosts a dedicated series of webinars focused on strengthening defence practice in international cooperation and cross-border surrender cases. These sessions serve as a dynamic forum where highly specialized lawyers from across Europe and beyond exchange critical experiences gleaned from complex domestic cases, providing insights directly relevant to other jurisdictions.

We continuously analyze remarkable extradition and surrender cases treated by our members, analyzing landmark decisions that define the evolving boundaries of international judicial cooperation. Each webinar offers a deep dive into specific legal challenges—from assessing proportionality and ensuring the right to retrial in absentia cases, to navigating the complexities of dual criminality and fundamental rights safeguards under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

By sharing cutting-edge arguments and successful strategies, we aim to ensure defence practitioners are well-equipped to challenge defective warrants, counter potential abuses of the system, and uphold due process for individuals facing loss of liberty across borders. Join us to refine your expertise and contribute to a more just and consistent application of international criminal law.
