Get to know our Network

What makes this network special is not only the outstanding legal minds from across Europe, but the way they work together: collegially, openly, and united by a shared commitment to the rule of law. In this interview series, we take a closer look at the people behind this network.

  1. Our network often operates in real time: a question is raised, and shortly afterwards the right person steps forward. If you were that person: who are you, which country are you based in, in which area of criminal law do you specialise and what are you particularly passionate about in your professional work?

I am a Swiss-based lawyer, practising in Geneva, with a strong focus on dispute resolution. My focus is on white-collar crime, asset tracing, compliance and internal investigations.

I am especially drawn to complex cases that require in-depth legal analysis, strategic thinking, international aspects and a precise understanding of both the factual and human dimensions of a matter. I love to work in close connection with my team and colleagues abroad to share points of view and know-how.

  1. Many experience this network not only as highly professional, but also as remarkably human, shaped by trust, friendship and a shared commitment to the rule of law in Europe. If we take a step beyond your professional role, what should we know about you as a person to understand why you are so keen to be part of this network?

Beyond my professional role, I am someone who genuinely values human connection and the exchange of experiences. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in several professional associations, and I have even had the opportunity to chair one of them. This kind of collective engagement is something I truly care about.

Being part of a network like the ECBA allows me to contribute to the evolution of legal practice, while continuously learning from others at an international level. I am deeply motivated by the idea of confronting different perspectives and growing together, both professionally and personally, in a community built on trust, dialogue and a shared commitment to the rule of law.

  1. If a colleague were to ask you whether this network is truly worth joining, what would you say from your own experience? What makes it so special for you?

From my experience, the ECBA is absolutely great! It is a genuinely active and supportive network where you can easily connect with colleagues across Europe and discuss real issues we face in criminal defence work.

What makes it special to me is the combination of high-level expertise and a very human, open-minded spirit. The ECBA creates a space where professional excellence, trust and collaboration go hand in hand, and where you truly feel part of a fun and welcoming group of people.

  1. Finally, looking ahead: what do you hope for the future of the ECBA, and what contribution would you personally like to make?

Looking ahead, I hope the ECBA will continue to strengthen its role as a key European voice for criminal defence, fostering dialogue, cooperation and the exchange of best practices across jurisdictions. I would like to see the network grow even more interconnected and engaged, especially in addressing the evolving challenges of cross-border criminal law and the new challenges of the profession such as AI.

On a personal level, I would be keen to contribute by actively sharing my experience, participating in discussions and initiatives, and, possibly, let the members discover my native region, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, at a conference!
