Human Rights Committee
Defending the Defence
The ECBA Human Rights Committee advocates for lawyers facing persecution, detention, or harassment for performing their professional duties. We document cases of legal professionals targeted for representing unpopular clients, monitor situations where defence attorneys face intimidation, and mobilize international support for colleagues in danger. Recent cases in Turkey and Belarus highlight the urgent need for vigilance and solidarity within our profession.
