Human Rights Committee

Safeguarding Independent Legal Institutions

We defend bar associations and legal institutions from attacks that undermine their independence.

The committee monitors legislative changes that threaten the autonomy of legal bodies, supports resistance efforts against government overreach, and highlights cases like the Istanbul Bar Association proceedings as evidence of the importance of independent legal institutions for European rule of law standards.

We offer a newsletter for our Working Group — would you like to stay up to date?
